Advanced Learner Loan Fees Policy

Introduction

This policy outlines the tuition fee structure for courses funded through the Advanced

Learner Loan and the responsibilities of learners regarding fee payments. This

document provides clear information on our fee terms, payment obligations, and refund

conditions.

1. Tuition Fees and Payment

• The tuition fees for each course are set by Workforce Training and Development

(WTD) and are subject to change annually.

• The Advanced Learner Loan can be used to cover tuition fees for eligible courses.

• Loan payments are made directly to the training provider by the Student Loans

Company.

• Learners are responsible for any additional costs such as materials, travel, and

exam fees if not covered by the loan.

2. Applying for the Advanced Learner Loan

• Learners must apply for an Advanced Learner Loan via Student Finance England.

• A Learning and Funding Information Letter (LAFIL) will be issued by the training

provider to support the loan application.

• Learners must ensure that their loan application is approved before the course

start date to avoid issues with funding.

3. Terms of Withdrawal

It is understood that at any time throughout, the duration of the Advanced Learner Loan

qualification, a learner may wish to withdraw. A learner will be liable for the funding

drawn down up to the last point of signed structured learning/last point of

contact/progression with the assigned Trainer.

4. Fees & charges

• WTD will not charge a learner above the government maximum loan amount for a

qualification.

• The learner will be asked to complete and sign their training plan to confirm their

attendance at the start (first day) this will be the qualification start date.

• WTD will confirm the learner’s attendance with the Student Loan Company and

the SLC release the loan payments directly to WTD.

• The maximum break in learning allowed is 12 months, if a learner does not return

to learning within this period they will be automatically withdrawn from the qualification but they will still be liable for the repayment of their Advanced

Learner Loan through the Student Loans Company, up to the last day of their

attendance on the course.

• If a learner withdraws from the course within the first two weeks, they will not be

liable for loan repayments

• If a learner withdraws from their qualification after the initial 14-day period, they

will be liable for the repayment of their Advanced Learner Loan up to and

including the month of their last day of attendance.

• If a learner completes their learning without achieving their qualification, they

will still be liable for the repayment of their loan in full.

• Refunds will only be issued in exceptional circumstances and at the discretion of

WTD.

• Any outstanding fees not covered by the loan must be paid directly by the

learner.

4. Changes to Course or Provider

• If a learner changes courses or training providers, they must inform the Student

Loans Company and WTD immediately.

• Adjustments to the loan may be required based on the new course fees.
